It takes an average of 10,000 hours to become a master at something. That number can seem really overwhelming, but don’t worry. I’m here to give you the tricks, rules, and tools you need to climb this proverbial mountain.
My Story
I started writing songs when I was 7 years old. I remember sitting at our family piano pretending I was writing songs for Tony Bennett (my dad’s favorite artist).I remember not only writing songs, but also writing short stories, comics, and plays for my friends and I to perform. I just loved to write. I guess that’s why, now as a songwriter, lyrics are my speciality. Since moving from small town Arkansas to Nashville, TN in 2011 I have become a BMI award-winning songwriter. I have written songs for christian artists such as Bethel Music, Leeland, We Are Messengers, Colton Dixon, MDSN, Rachael Lampa, Jordan St. Cyr, Gateway Worship and many others. I also have experience in writing for film and TV. You may have heard my songs on The L Word, Love is Blind, The Perfect Match, Teen Mom, Siesta Key, Katy Keene, Love island, Ex on the Beach, Make you scream and many others. My artist project “Ri-An” has accumulated over 7 million streams on Spotify alone. The only reason I share this is because I want you to know it IS possible to go from writing for pretend artists for your parents to writing songs for real artists that thousands of people will hear.
